Elmira High School

Students from Elmira High School recently participated in an engaging entrepreneurship event through Junior Achievement, alongside GST BOCES New Visions students. Working in groups of 5–6, students collaborated to brainstorm and develop an original business idea and create a pitch. Throughout the process, they were supported by mentors from business and finance backgrounds, including local business owners. The experience gave students valuable insight into entrepreneurship while strengthening their teamwork, problem-solving, and presentation skills.

In its inaugural year, our Computer Applications class is already seeing exciting success! We are proud to recognize Evan Kirsch as the first student in the program to earn their Microsoft Excel Certification. This accomplishment reflects strong commitment, skill development, and the value of bringing real-world technology certifications into the classroom.

Love for art and strong integrity can fuel my academic future. I have used my love for art to help pull me along to success and help with college financially. This train will be completed by class mural boards being placed on the base of the train cars. My love for art is strong, and these are my first few steps to my artistic journey. Students of Elmira High School are exploring a lesson on Feeding a Family. In this unit, students explored what it takes to plan and prepare balanced meals for a household.
They researched and selected recipes, created detailed meal plans, and developed realistic budgets to guide their spending. Students then compared prices, shopped for ingredients, and used teamwork and kitchen skills to prepare their chosen dishes.
Through this process, they practiced responsibility, problem-solving, financial awareness, and the real-world skills needed to successfully feed a family. #GoExpress

There was extra excitement in the halls of Fassett Elementary this winter as members of the Express Varsity Lacrosse team stepped away from the field and into classrooms to celebrate Read for the Record, the district’s annual early literacy event.
The athletes visited Pre-K through second grade classrooms, reading picture books aloud and bringing stories to life with animated voices, smiles, and laughter. Students listened intently, sharing excitement about favorite characters and colorful illustrations. For many, having the older athletes reading beside them made the stories—and the day—feel extra special.
The lacrosse players also talked with students about the joy of reading and why stories matter, showing that books can inspire and connect readers at any age. 📚🥍 #GoExpress

The Express Robotics team competed against 70 other schools at the New York State VEX Robotics Championships. They finished the day with a 4-4 record, 13th in their division, and lost in the Round of 16. More so than their record, the students showed resiliency, teamwork, and problem solving at a high level. I am very proud of them.

Next week start SPIRIT WEEK! We are SUPER excited to see everyone's school spirit!!!!

Congratulations to Elmira City School District for completing the Three Peat in winning the 2025-2026 STAC Girls Bowling Championship! They led the way with a team score of 2,830 for their 3rd consecutive title.

Madison Smith of Elmira claimed the High Game (258) and High Series (681) at the 2025-2026 STAC Girls Bowling Championship!

No School- Mid-Winter Break 2/16-2/20

Elmira High School held our Winter Graduation on Thursday, February 5th. We celebrated students who completed their graduation requirements through early completion or extended time. We could not be more proud of our graduates!!! Just prior to the ceremony, we proudly held a military signing which created an emotional and patriotic moment as students committed to serving our country! CONGRATULATIONS SCHOLARS!❤️🖤🚂

🎶On November 21st and 22nd, 350 of the area’s top music students came to Elmira High School for a two day music festival, Area All-State, hosted by the music faculty at Elmira High School.

🎻🥁🎷🎺🎹The students, representing 38 school districts from Allegany, Chemung, Steuben, Schuyler, and Yates counties, were accepted into the Concert Band, Mixed Chorus, Modern Band, or String Orchestra and were given the opportunity to rehearse and perform with professional conductors. The 10th, 11th, and 12th grade musicians started the process of being accepted into the honor ensembles the previous Spring and they had an amazing concert.
🎉Congratulations especially to our Elmira High School students that were accepted! Seven band students, eight orchestra students, and three choir students chosen for this honor!

🎼Another congratulations to Kimberly Henry, the festival host, for also being elected as the Zone 15 NYSSMA Representative! She will be representing the Southern Tier music teachers at the State level for next three years.
